After a year and seven months, it started to turn off by itself when I use it. And I thought a Sony would last long. So now I am deciding to get a new laptop. But after having windows on my laptop, I'm not sure if i want to get another windows.
I'm leaning towards the macbook pro. I think it looks good and after all the reviews I read about them online, I think Macbooks are more reliable and will last longer. I want a laptop that would last a lot longer.
But then I still want microsoft word and such. Does anyone use Bootcamp on their macbook?
A Mac can even run Windows. Have a Windows application you need to use once in a while? Every new Mac lets you install and run Windows at native speeds, using a built-in utility called Boot Camp. I want to know if its simple to switch back and forth from Mac to Windows and vice versa. Best Answer: First of all, you can probably fix your Vaio by spraying some 'canned air' into the fan vents and into any other openings in your laptop's chassis. Dust settles on the CPU and insulates it, making it hot. I've used Boot Camp. Going back and forth is just a matter of restarting the computer. Be sure to click around Apple's Boot Camp pages first. There are some gotchas and extra downloads that you need to be aware of: FYI, Boot Camp is mostly only Windows Drivers for Apple hardware.
If you aren't using your Windows for games, then you might check out Virtual Box ( ), which will allow you to run Windows and Mac at the same time without rebooting (but the graphics-ie gaming-is not that great). Microsoft Word is available for Mac. There's also Apple iWork for $70. There's also for free.
I recommend Open Office because it's free and it is compatible with all versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Now that you have all the facts (including a possible fix for your Vaio), let me shower you with some opinion: Do you know the proverb, 'The proof is in the pudding'? Let's consider Yahoo Answers 'Computers and Internet' category the pudding, ok? Look at a few pages of Computers and Internet.
Most if not all of them will have somebody asking for help to remove a virus. Are any of those questions from Mac users? Mac haters will give me thumbs down and scream until they're blue in the face that Macs can get viruses. If that's so then why aren't they asking for help on Yahoo Answers? Mac haters will say that's because virus makers want to target the largest audience, which is Windows users. But do I care? All I care is that I can go to all the dark corners of the Internet on my Mac, and I don't get viruses.
Don't is not the same as can't. I don't care why I don't get viruses. I just care that I don't. I've been a Windows user my whole life. I switched to Mac about 18 months ago, and I'll never go back. I work in I.T. For a living, and after spending my whole day fixing Windows problems at work, it's a huge relief to go home to my Mac that just works all the time every time.
Bootcamp on anythign short of a macbook pro will have serious performance degradation, mac's hardware is HORRIBLY inferior to an equally priced pc laptop. Also your vaio probably jsut needs cleaned, simply get some canned air from walmart or radioshack for about 3-5 bucks and give it a good thorough cleaning, and if it is easy remove the back plate and just get out as much dust as you can. ( i will point out that this isn't an option for most mac products becasue of they way they are assembled) just don't let them tell you any mac product has superior graphics power to ANY equally priced pc now that people are finally accepting that macs have security vulnerabilities, there is no reason they are better at all other then they look different, and if you want different, install a virtual machine with linux, there are thousands of distros and oyu could literally have a different OS every day for like teh next 10 years if you want.
